For several decades, X-ray glasses have been a novelty purchase that actually created an optical illusion to make it seem like you were seeing through clothes and other materials. Then there were the super x-ray glasses that gave you the ability to not only see under peoples clothes but these babies could even view a persons bone structure as well. As we all know, No five dollar pair of plastic glasses with a bullseye printed in the center could ever or would ever be able to perform these miraculous feats.
Real x-ray glasses or (aka) lead glasses are the real thing. Lead x-ray glasses can be an invaluable tool for radiation protection. If your in a position where your job requires you to be in close proximity to the x-ray beam; do yourself a favor and invest in a pair of x-ray glasses. The eye is one of the most vulnerable organs in the body when it comes to radiation dose damage. Current commercially available lead glasses are 0.75 mm lead equivalent for the front and 0.5 mm lead for the sides. Wearing lead glasses during x-ray exams has proven to reduce occupational exposures by at least a factor of 90%.
So remember you are born with only one pair of eyes. Why not avoid future cateracts or worse damage to those baby blues just by wearing a pair of goofy looking x-ray glasses.
